Of Krakens, Of Kale, Of Knitting Cardigans. Of Misha and the Queen: A GISHWHES Journey Part Uno

Well, Misha finally got me naked in the sheets. But not in the way I expected.

What did you think I meant about getting naked under the sheets?

This is just one of many strange thoughts I had during my week-long participation in GISHWHES, the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. Of the (un)lucky uninitiated, GISHWHES is the mad, mad, mad brain child of Misha Collins, actor, baker, candlestick maker, and aspiring Overlord. Mr. Collins is mostly known for his breakout role as Castiel, the Angel of Thursday on a little show with a big heart and passionate following, Supernatural. Misha decided to put his power over this passionate following to good use in two ways: 1) The nonprofit Random Acts, in which he uses it to inspire those fans to do random acts of kindness both big and small for others, and to raise money for great projects like the recently completed community center in Haiti, and 2) GISHWHES, in which he says is to inspire us to create art and cause the death of normalcy, but some might agree with me that he just uses to exercise his power to see how insane he can drive us. GISHWHES also dovetails into Random Acts as well in terms of getting us to help others. GISHWHES is how Misha got me naked. In Sheets. Releasing the Kraken.

This was my first year joining the hunt after two years of sitting on the sidelines hearing about the joy, the tears, the frustrations, the impossible conquered, and the all-around sheer craziness and audacity of it all.  And I wanted to document the madness. It has been over two week since it all ended. And after I, and my fellow teammates, made up for loss sleep, meals, and showers, I decided to document this journey in hopes of making those who have yet to do GISHWHES understand maybe why we all did it in the first place. Or at least make you laugh. Or cringe.

So, without further gilding the lily, here it is, the totally abnosome journey of nine people into the heart of art inspired insanity and lived to tell the tale. We, are the Kansas Killers and we caused normalcy to die.
